To get a multi-faceted analysis of the 2021 eCommerce outlook in our recent report for analytics company Anodot: 2021 eCommerce Outlook Report: A Two-Sided View, we interviewed 1,057 U.S.-based consumer respondents in a study from September 10 to 13, 2021. We conducted a separate survey of retailers to get a more comprehensive overview, in which we asked 101 retailers from September 11 to 17, 2021.

These surveys revealed the following results:

• 91 % self-identify as being in the “eCommerce” industry and 9 % identify as being in the
“retail” industry.
• 93 % of respondents say they sell to consumers.
• 43 % say their organization was founded in 1999 or earlier; 43 % were founded between
2000 and 2015; and 14 % were founded in 2016 or later.
• 56 % say their annual revenue is $50 million or less; 17 % say revenue is between $50 million
and $500 million; 11 % say revenue is between $500 million and $1 billion; and 16 % say their
company revenue is greater than $1 billion.
• 55 % say that most, almost all, or all revenue comes from online sales.
