In early 2020, we conducted a survey for Plymouth Rock Assurance [PDF] of 1,000 homeowners across every state in the U.S. to determine how seriously they take their home insurance. We found that 68% of respondents compared carriers the last time they purchased home insurance, and the three most popular reasons for purchasing home insurance were; I want to protect my investment in my property and belongings (76%), It gives me peace of mind knowing I’m covered (69%), my mortgage lender requires it (52%).
