For accounting software firm Xero, we interviewed 542 small businesses in June for its study “Money Matters: The impact of economic conditions on the cash flow of US small businesses.” The goal of this research was to better understand the cash flow issues that face small business owners: 58% of owners report that concerns around cash flow have negatively impacted their personal wellbeing, with the worst impacts being on stress (84%), anxiety (79%), and sleepless nights (64%). Poor cash flow can also lead to owners being unable to pay their bills (22%) or even pay themselves (45%).
